AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE’S YOUNG DANCER SUMMER WORKSHOP

AUDITION TO BE HELD AT THE SEISKAYA STUDIOS IN ST. JAMES,

SATURDAY, JANUARY 21 AT 1:OOPM

Auditions for American Ballet Theatre’s Young Dancer Summer Workshop will be held at the Seiskaya Studios in St. James at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 21, 2006. Under the direction of Franco De Vita, Principal of ABT’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, the Young Dancer Summer Workshop is a comprehensive ballet program geared toward young dancers ages 9-11.

According to ABT’s Summer Intensive Coordinator Maggie Seyffert, “The program will focus on building a solid foundation in ballet technique and educating younger dancers on ballet-related topics, including dance history, rehearsal etiquette, nutrition and injury prevention.”

Registration for the January 21st audition at Seiskaya Ballet’s Studio A

will begin at 12 Noon.

"Being selected as an official audition site is quite a compliment," noted Seiskaya Ballet's Artistic Director Valia Seiskaya. "Seiskaya Ballet has had a long-term relationship with ABT dating back to the late 1970s. Several ABT dancers, such as principal dancer Gil Boggs, have performed as guest artists with Seiskaya Ballet. Several noted ABT dancers and ballet masters have taught at Seiskaya Ballet affiliated programs, they include: Jurgen Schneider, Eleanor D'Antuono, Cynthia Harvey, Lupe Serrano, Danilo Radojevic, Georgina Parkinson, Patricia Wilde, Paul Sutherland and Nanette Glushak. Four former Seiskaya-trained dancers are among ABT’s prestigious alumni. Seiskaya graduate Cory Stearns is currently a member of ABT’s corps de ballet and, in 2005, eight current Seiskaya dancers elected to attend ABT Summer Intensives."

"It is gratifying to see that ABT recognizes the large number of aspiring young dancers on Long Island and is providing a convenient location for them to audition," concluded Seiskaya.

For more information visit www.abt.org or call (212) 477-3030, ext. 1177.

Seiskaya alumnae Cory Stearns is currently with American Ballet Theatre.
